Reverse description A large Greek letter Alpha (Α) dominates the central field, serving as the monogram for Argos. The magistrate's name ΦΙΛΟΚΛΗΣ (Philokles) is inscribed in three lines arranged around the Alpha, with a small amphora or lekythos positioned below the crossbar of the letter. The entire design is set within a shallow incuse square, a hallmark of Aeginetan-standard coinage from the northeastern Peloponnese. The lettering is clear and well-formed in the Greek alphabet, consistent with late Hellenistic civic issues.
