| Beschrijving voorzijde | A forepart of a wolf advancing to the left is depicted in high relief against a plain field, the animal's open jaws rendered with expressive naturalism characteristic of Argive die engraving. The muscular forequarters and articulated forepaws are shown in three-quarter perspective, conveying vigorous movement. The wolf, sacred to Apollo, served as a prominent civic emblem of Argos and appears here without accompanying legend or border decoration. The flan is irregularly shaped, as typical of hand-struck Peloponnesian silver of this period. |
