| Beschrijving keerzijde | A bull's head rendered facing, set within a shallow incuse depression conforming to the overall incuse fabric of the series. The head is depicted frontally, with pronounced curling horns extending to either side, large eyes, and a broad muzzle with detailed nostrils. A dotted or granular texture across the poll of the head suggests the thick curly hair typical of Early Classical bovine iconography. The treatment of the musculature of the neck and jaw is boldly modelled despite the small module of the flan. The incuse technique, characteristic of coins struck in the Achaean colonies of southern Italy, creates a stark contrast of relief and depression. |
