| Obverse description | A tripod with three loop handles and leonine-paw feet rendered in fine incuse relief, the characteristic emblem of Kroton. Between the legs, two erect serpents face one another, their bodies coiling upward. The ethnic ϘPO appears in retrograde Greek characters within the field. The design is executed in the incuse technique characteristic of early Achaean coinage of Magna Graecia. |
