Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing right, depicted in high relief with strong archaic-to-early-classical artistic character. The goddess wears a crested Attic helmet adorned with a laurel wreath, the cheekpieces framing her serene profile. The rendering of the helmet's bowl and crest is detailed, with incised lines articulating the neck guard. The portrait fills the field confidently, consistent with the coinages of the Italiote Greek city of Thourioi in the late fifth century BC.
