Kleitor was a small polis in the highland interior of Arkadia, perpetually overshadowed by more powerful neighbors and only sporadically attested as an independent issuing authority. Its coinage is rare enough that the BCD collection — arguably the most comprehensive Peloponnesian hoard ever assembled — produced only a handful of attributable pieces, making individual specimens significant data points for establishing the city's monetary activity in the early Hellenistic period.
