| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field displays a large Gothic letter G, the initial of Duke Galeazzo Maria Sforza, rendered in a bold medieval script characteristic of Milanese billon coinage of the period. Above the central device, a crowned helmet or heraldic crest is visible in the upper field, alluding to the ducal authority of the Sforza dynasty. A partial Latin legend runs around the periphery of the irregular flan, though weakly struck in areas due to the hammered technique. The coin exhibits the characteristic dark patina and irregular fabric typical of small-denomination billon trillinas of fifteenth-century Milan. |

Galeazzo Maria Sforza ruled Milan with a brutality that made him widely despised — he was assassinated in Santo Stefano church on St. Stephen's Day, 1476, by three conspirators who had steeled themselves with readings from classical tyrannicide texts. The trillina circulated throughout exactly this decade of his rule, a billon denomination occupying the lowest practical tier of Milanese coinage, where it absorbed the daily friction of market transactions that higher silver issues never touched.
