Obverse description Bare head of the youthful Herakles in right profile, the hero's lion skin knotted at the throat, its forepaws draped across the neck. The modeling reflects the Hellenistic convention of rendering Herakles as a vigorous adolescent, with flowing hair and naturalistic facial features typical of Thessalian civic coinage of the late third century BC.
