Stratos was the dominant inland city of Akarnania, a region whose fractured geography — rivers, marshes, mountainous passes — made political consolidation difficult and coinage irregular. The Akarnanians issued coins collectively under federal and individual city types; Stratos produced its own small silver alongside the broader league issues, which complicates precise attribution of minor denominations like this one.
