Additional information

Skyros, the Aegean island later seized by Kimon of Athens in 476 BC and repopulated with Athenian settlers, produced its own independent coinage only within a narrow window before that annexation ended local minting entirely. This piece dates to precisely that final phase of autonomous issue.
