| Obverse description | Confronted foreparts of two horned and bearded goats facing one another across the field, their bodies separated by a central pellet, the entire device positioned above an exergual line. The design is rendered in archaic Greek style characteristic of the late Archaic period, with compact, stylized animal forms. The composition is symmetrical and tightly arranged within the flan. |

Skyros, the Aegean island later seized by Kimon of Athens in 476 BC and repopulated with Athenian settlers, produced its own independent coinage only within a narrow window before that annexation ended local minting entirely. This piece dates to precisely that final phase of autonomous issue.
