| Obverse description | Draped bust of a sea-goddess, possibly Amphitrite, facing left, crowned with a distinctive crab headdress rendered in fine detail. The hair is depicted in flowing locks falling along the neck, and the figure conveys an archaic Italic artistic style characteristic of Bruttian bronze coinage. In the right field, one or more secondary symbols appear, which may include a crescent, club, or serpent depending on die variety. The letter Γ is occasionally present as an additional control mark in the field. |

| Reverse description | A crab rendered frontally and in high relief occupies the central field, its carapace, claws, and multiple legs clearly articulated in a bold, stylized manner. The ethnic legend ΒΡΕΤ appears above the crab and ΤΙΩΝ below, together reading ΒΡΕΤTIΩΝ, identifying the issuing people of the Brettii. The field occasionally features the control letter Γ. The overall design is framed by a plain border, and the flan is characteristically irregular, as typical of Bruttian hammered bronzes of the late third century BC. |
