| Obverse description | Facing lion's head rendered in a stylized, archaic manner occupying the central field, with pronounced circular eyes, a broad muzzle, and a mane depicted by radial striations above the crown of the head. The design reflects the Sicilian Norman aesthetic, blending Western heraldic and Byzantine artistic influences. Traces of an Arabic inscription are visible in the lower right field, partially legible around the periphery of the coin. |
