Obverse description Facing lion's head rendered in a stylized, archaic manner occupying the central field, with pronounced circular eyes, a broad muzzle, and a mane depicted by radial striations above the crown of the head. The design reflects the Sicilian Norman aesthetic, blending Western heraldic and Byzantine artistic influences. Traces of an Arabic inscription are visible in the lower right field, partially legible around the periphery of the coin.

Reverse description A tall, upright palm tree with a slender central trunk occupies the full height of the field, its fronds spreading symmetrically to either side in a naturalistic yet stylized fashion, characteristic of Norman-Sicilian coinage of the twelfth century. The base of the trunk is flanked by smaller offshoots or date clusters, and traces of an Arabic inscription appear in the surrounding field, partially legible due to the irregular flan and heavy wear.
