| Obverse description | Draped bust of Artemis Soteira facing left, rendered in fine Sicilian style with flowing, wavy hair swept back and gathered at the nape. A quiver is visible over the shoulder in the lower left field, serving as the goddess's identifying attribute. The portraiture is of high artistic quality, with delicate facial features and naturalistic modelling of the neck and drapery. A dotted border frames the design along the coin's edge. |

| Reverse description | A large winged thunderbolt depicted frontally at the centre of the field, its wings outstretched symmetrically to either side and decorated with feather detail; lightning bolts radiate from both extremities. The Greek ethnic legend ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ (of the Syracusans) is divided into two lines, with ΣΥΡΑΚ appearing above the thunderbolt and ΟΣΙΩΝ below, both in bold, well-cut Greek letters. The design is enclosed within a plain linear border. The thunderbolt is a Zeusian symbol closely associated with the coinage of Agathokles during his reign as tyrant and later king of Syracuse. |
