| Obverse description | Facing head of a female divinity, turned very slightly to the left, rendered in the archaic-to-transitional Sicilian style. The hair is arranged in loose, wavy locks radiating around the face and bound with a tainia (fillet). The modeling of the features — large almond-shaped eyes, full lips, and broad nose — reflects the bold, almost frontal portraiture characteristic of late fifth-century Sicilian bronze coinage. The field is plain, with no legend. |
