Obverse description Bare head of the nymph Aigiste facing right, her hair elaborately dressed and bound in a sphendone, with a prominent knotted chignon at the nape; a single ivy leaf appears in the lower left field. The portrait is rendered in fine early classical style with carefully incised curling locks framing the face. A beaded border encircles the design.
