Obverse description The brass centre features the Chilean national coat of arms in high relief, depicting a quartered shield charged with a five-pointed star, supported on the dexter by a huemul (Andean deer) and on the sinister by a condor with open wings, both rendered in fine detail. Above the shield rises a crest of three ostrich feathers. The entire heraldic composition rests on a decorative scroll base. The surrounding nickel ring carries the legend REPÚBLICA DE CHILE arcing along the upper periphery in raised Latin capital letters. The lower portion of the ring is plain, framing the central device.
