Obverse description The octagonal brass flan bears the Chilean national coat of arms at center, depicting a quartered escutcheon supported by a rearing huemul to the right and a condor to the left, set upon an ornate scrolled cartouche. The shield displays the traditional bipartite field with a three-pointed white star above a red base. The circumferential legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE arcs along the upper periphery in bold Latin capitals, following the contour of the octagonal edge.
