Tremissis - Wittiza Gerunda

Wittiza's reign (700–710) marked the final decade of coherent Visigothic royal authority before the Umayyad invasion of 711 effectively ended the kingdom. Gerunda — modern Girona — was an active mint under the late Visigoths, and tremisses struck there tend to show more consistent gold fineness than those from some southern mints during the same period, likely reflecting proximity to Pyrenean trade routes rather than royal favoritism.

Pliego 764 is among the rarer Gerunda attributions for Wittiza, with documented examples in single digits across major collections.
