| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing bust of King Wittiza rendered in the highly stylised late Visigothic manner, depicted with a diadem or crown surmounted by a globus, flanked by what appear to be pendant lappets or ear-pendants. The effigy is schematic and flat in relief, consistent with the degenerate die-cutting characteristic of early eighth-century Visigothic tremisses. The bust is set within a beaded border encircling the entire field. The circumferential Latin legend reads + I(ND)N(ME)VVITTIZAP+, invoking the king's name and his rule in the name of God. |
