Obverse description Facing bust of King Witerico rendered in the stylized Visigothic manner, depicting a frontal figure with elongated braided or beaded hair falling to the shoulders and a schematic facial treatment characteristic of late antique Iberian coinage. The king is shown wearing a jeweled collar or torque, with the bust centered in the coin's field. Surrounding the central effigy, the retrograde or angular legend reads +VVITTERICVS RE, interspersed between decorative star-shaped or cross-pattée elements arranged in a radial pattern around the periphery. A cross pattée surmounts the composition at the top of the field. The overall design reflects the highly stylized, almost geometric artistry distinctive of Visigothic tremisses minted in the early seventh century.
