| Descrizione del rovescio | Facing bust at centre, closely mirroring the obverse type, rendered in the characteristic schematic Visigothic style with large dot eyes, braided pendant hair, and a jewelled collar below the chin. Two crossed sceptres or torques appear beneath the bust, a common Visigothic reverse device. The surrounding field is filled with the degenerate Latin legend ISPALI PIVS, identifying the mint of Ispali (modern Seville) and the epithet PIVS accorded to the king, with individual letters distributed around the bust in angular, stylised forms. A Maltese-style cross appears at the top of the field above the bust. The design is framed by a beaded inner border and an irregular flan edge characteristic of hammered Visigothic coinage. |
