Additional information

Sisenand seized the Visigothic throne in 631 by inviting Frankish intervention — he ceded the city of Carcassonne to Dagobert I in exchange for military support against Suinthila, the legitimate king. The Ispali mint, modern Seville, was among the more productive of the Visigothic striking centers, and tremisses attributed to Sisenand's reign there are relatively scarce given his five-year rule ended with his death in 636, succeeded without dynastic continuity.
