Sisebut is one of the more unusual Visigothic rulers — a king who wrote Latin poetry and hagiography, corresponded with Isidore of Seville, and in 616 issued an edict forcibly baptizing the Jews of Hispania, an act even Isidore considered overzealous. His coinage was struck across a network of mints operating under tight ecclesiastical and royal oversight, with Laetera (modern Lérida) functioning as a secondary provincial mint in the northeast.
CNV 241 / Pliego 310 places this piece within a well-documented but numerically scarce type for the Laetera mint.
