| Reverse description | Frontal facing bust, representing the mint city personification or a secondary royal effigy in the characteristic late Visigothic schematic manner, with facial features reduced to pellets and incised lines, the head surmounted by a cross-tipped crown. The bust is centrally placed on the flan and surrounded by an elaborate decorative field of radiating stars, pellets, and cross motifs disposed between two beaded border circles, closely mirroring the decorative vocabulary of the obverse. The legend + BRACARA PIVS encircles the design in Latin capitals, identifying the mint of Bracara Augusta (modern Braga, Portugal) and the epithet PIVS attributing piety to the king. |
