| 正面描述 | Facing bust of the king in the Byzantine imperial tradition, depicted frontally with a diademed and beaded headdress surmounted by a cross, the bust shown draped and cuirassed within a beaded inner circle. The facial features are rendered in a schematic, late antique style typical of Visigothic gold coinage. The surrounding Latin legend reads + RECCAREDVS RE, distributed around the circumference of the flan. |

Recaredo II ruled for perhaps three months in 621 AD before dying — possibly murdered — making his coinage among the most historically compressed of the entire Visigothic series. Emerita Augusta (present-day Mérida) was one of the kingdom's most productive mints, which is the only reason any examples of his reign survive at all.
Pliego 335 documents this type with very few confirmed specimens.
