| Beschrijving voorzijde | Diademed bust facing right, rendered in the schematic, degenerate style characteristic of Merovingian tremisses of the early seventh century. The portrait, crudely struck on an irregular flan, retains the classical prototype of late Roman imperial coinage, with a diadem visible above the head. The surrounding legend reads SILVANECTIS, identifying the mint city of Senlis. The overall design reflects the progressive stylization of Byzantine prototypes as transmitted through Frankish moneyer coinage. |
