Obverse description Diademed and draped bust facing right in late antique style, rendered in a stylized, somewhat barbarized manner characteristic of Merovingian gold coinage. A small cross appears above the head, and a group of three pellets is positioned to the right of the bust in the field. The portrait, while derivative of late Roman imperial prototypes, displays the simplified linear engraving typical of early Frankish tremisses. The surrounding legend reads + ROTO MΛ GO⊥I, referencing the Rouen mint.
