| Obverse description | Right-facing bust of Emperor Mauricius Tiberius rendered in the late antique imperial tradition, depicted diademed with a beaded diadem, draped in a paludamentum fastened at the shoulder, and wearing a cuirass. The effigy is executed in shallow relief typical of hammered Byzantine gold coinage, with stylized facial features and finely incised drapery folds.
