| Obverse description | Facing bust of the emperor Justinian II, crowned with a jewelled diadem and draped in imperial robes, rendered in the stylised Lombard manner. The effigy is bearded, with large almond-shaped eyes and a frontal, hieratic aspect characteristic of Beneventan coinage of this period. In the left field the emperor holds a cross-tipped staff (sceptre), while the right hand appears to gesture forward. The abbreviated Latin legend is disposed in the field to either side of the bust. |

| Reverse description | A bold cross potent on steps occupies the centre of the reverse field, with pellets at the terminals, typical of Lombard tremissis coinage. To the left of the cross shaft appears the initial S and to the right the initial L, identifying the co-rulers Scauniperga and Liutprand. The surrounding circular Latin legend, read continuously, invokes victory for the Augustus and closes with the Constantinople mint mark CONOB, retained as a traditional prestige formula even though the coin was struck at Benevento. |
