| Obverse description | Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Justin II facing right, rendered in the characteristic frontal-tending late antique style of Byzantine coinage. The emperor wears a pearl diadem with pendilia, and his cuirass is visible at the shoulder. A paludamentum (imperial military cloak) is draped across the bust. The portrait is executed in high relief against a flat field, enclosed within a beaded inner border. The surrounding legend reads D N IVSTINVS P P AVC in Latin capital letters. |
