Obverse description Facing crowned and draped bust of Grimoald III, bearded, depicted in the late Byzantine imperial tradition. The effigy is rendered frontally with stylized facial features, wearing a jewelled crown and a draped paludamentum. The right hand holds a cross before the chest, while the left arm is draped across the lower body. A circular Latin legend surrounds the bust in the field.
