| Reverse description | Central field dominated by a tall cross on steps (crux gemmata on a three-stepped base), a common Visigothic reverse type reflecting late antique Christian iconography. Above the cross a smaller cross pattée is visible, and the composition is framed by a circular Latin legend reading + GERVNDA PIVS, identifying the mint of Gerunda (modern Girona) and the royal epithet PIVS. The legend is separated by pellet stops and enclosed within a fine beaded border, the whole struck on a characteristically irregular flan. |
