| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central cross pattee or potent cross occupying the field, rendered in the schematic style typical of late Visigothic coinage from the mint of Gerunda. A pellet or annulet is visible to the left of the cross. The legend, naming the co-ruler Wittiza and the mint city Gerunda, runs around the periphery in debased Latin capitals. A beaded inner border separates the central motif from the circumferential legend, and a serrated dentilated rim frames the entire reverse. The die work reflects the characteristically crude yet distinctive style of the Gerunda mint during the joint reign of Egica and Wittiza. |
