| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field bears a Latin inscription arranged in two horizontal lines reading NTERCIN, with a partial circular legend around the periphery reading AROSEVER or similar degraded Latin characters. The legends are deeply struck in a bold, somewhat barbarous style characteristic of Arab-Byzantine transitional coinage from Ifriqiya. The lettering shows the angular, irregular execution typical of early Umayyad Latin-script issues struck at Carthage. No figurative imagery is present; the design is entirely epigraphic. The overall style reflects the deliberate imitation and adaptation of late Roman monetary traditions by the Umayyad administration in North Africa. |
