| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of King Chlothar III facing right, rendered in the schematic Merovingian style characteristic of mid-7th century Frankish coinage. The effigy displays striated hair arranged in rows beneath a diadem, with a prominent eye, aquiline nose, and stylized drapery at the base of the neck. A surrounding Latin legend reads LOTHΛVIVS RE with a cross, identifying the issuing king.
