Obverse description Stylized facing bust of King Chintila in the center of the field, rendered in the debased late Visigothic manner with schematic facial features, flanked by two pellets at either side. The bust is surmounted by a diadem or crown indicated by a series of radiating projections. The field is populated by multiple six-pointed stars arranged around the central effigy, all within a beaded border. The overall style reflects the progressive abstraction characteristic of late Visigothic coinage, departing from the naturalistic Roman prototype.
