| Obverse description | Stylized facing bust of King Chintila in the central field, rendered in the debased late-antique manner characteristic of Visigothic coinage, with schematic facial features and drapery indicated by incised lines. The effigy is surrounded by a ring of eight prominent pellet-tipped stars arranged in a circular pattern. A beaded inner border separates the central device from the surrounding field, and a serrated or toothed outer border frames the entire design. The overall style reflects the progressive abstraction of the Byzantine imperial portrait tradition as adopted by Visigothic moneyers. |
