Ivanko Terter ruled Dobruja for less than two years before Ottoman pressure effectively ended the despotate as an autonomous entity. This issue dates to the final months of that independence — by 1388, Dobruja had been absorbed into the Ottoman orbit following Ali Pasha's campaign through the Danubian principalities. Copper trachea of this ruler are among the least documented coinages of the late Bulgarian sphere, surviving in small numbers and poorly represented in major collections.
