Reverse description Two standing figures depicted in full length on the concave field, facing the viewer in a formal ceremonial composition. At center, a patriarchal or processional cross rises between them. The figure on the left, identified as the Virgin Mary (Theotokos), is shown in imperial robes and crown, while the figure on the right is identified as Tsar Ivan Asen II, wearing military attire and crown. Both figures jointly hold the central cross, conveying the dynastic and religious legitimacy of the Bulgarian ruler. The relief is typical of Bulgarian imitative trachy coinage of the early 13th century.
