正面描述 Crude hammered field bearing a large Cyrillic monogram in bold relief, composed of interlaced letters forming the conjoined initials of Tsar Ivan Alexander. The monogram occupies the majority of the flan, rendered in a characteristic medieval Bulgarian style with deeply cut strokes. The surface exhibits natural green patination consistent with an ancient bronze piece. No surrounding legend is present; the design is iconic and symbol-based rather than figurative.

附加信息

Ivan Alexander ruled jointly with his son Mikhail Asen IV from 1331, a co-regency arrangement that places this trachy within a tradition of Bulgarian dual-authority coinage borrowed loosely from Byzantine practice. The pairing was politically deliberate — Mikhail's presence on the coinage helped consolidate dynastic legitimacy at a moment when the empire was recovering from years of aristocratic fragmentation and Serbian encroachment. Mikhail died before his father, around 1355, which gives this joint issue a hard terminus that tighter typological work has only recently begun to refine.
