The circular Latin legend IN HOC SIGNO VINCES ('In this sign you shall conquer') runs around the periphery, separated by pellets, a traditional Christological motto used on Portuguese coinage of this period. The design is clean and well-struck, with the cross serving as the primary heraldic device. The coin's milled edge is visible at the border. |
