| Reverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, a large cross of the Order of Christ — quartered and patée in form — dominates the central field, with a decorative ring or annulet in each of the four angles. Three pellets appear at the top of the inner circle. A continuous Latin legend in Roman capitals runs clockwise along the outer periphery from 12 o'clock, containing the Constantinian motto. The style is consistent with mid-16th-century Lisbon mint hammered silver coinage under João III. |
