| Obverse description | Crowned bust of King Fernando I facing left, depicted in Gothic style with flowing hair beneath a fleur-de-lis crown surmounted by a small shield bearing the Portuguese quinas. A horizontal band inscribed with the mint name LIS-BOA bisects the field across the king's face. The effigy is rendered in low relief with a draped collar visible below the chin. The whole is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the circular Latin legend surrounding the central device in the outer ring. |
