| Obverse description | The obverse field is entirely occupied by a bold, multi-line nastaliq calligraphic legend reading 'السلطان ابن السلطان فتحعلی شاه قاجار' (The Sultan, Son of the Sultan, Fath-Ali Shah Qajar), executed in a deeply struck, flowing style characteristic of early Qajar hammered coinage. The inscription fills the central field within a raised linear border, itself enclosed by a prominent outer beaded border following the irregular periphery of the flan. Delicate floral and foliate flourishes in the nastaliq tradition embellish the interstitial spaces between the letterforms. The overall composition conveys the dynastic authority of Fath-Ali Shah through the grandeur of the calligraphic design rather than a royal portrait. |
