Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Ceres, allegorical personification of the French Republic, her hair elaborately coiffed and surmounted by a turreted mural crown adorned with small figural motifs. A single five-pointed star appears in the upper field above the effigy. The encircling legend reads RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE, with the engraver's signature BARRE visible in small characters beneath the truncation along the lower rim. The field is bordered by a fine beaded inner rim.
