Issued under the Japanese imperial calendar system still used officially in Taiwan's government and legal documentation, this token dates to Heisei 29 — the 29th year of Emperor Akihito's reign. Taiwan's continued use of the Japanese era system traces directly to the colonial period, which ended in 1945, yet the convention persisted through administrative inertia and remains legally recognized alongside the Gregorian calendar to this day.
