| Reverse description | Standing full-length figure of Liberty facing slightly left, draped in classical robes and crowned with a radiate liberty crown, raising a flaming torch in her right hand and resting her left hand upon a stone tablet inscribed LIBERTÉ. Flanking the central figure are two leafy olive branches curving upward from the lower field. The dates 1789 and 1989, commemorating the bicentennial of the French Revolution, appear in the field to the left and right respectively. Below the figure, the Roman numeral date MCMLXXXVI and the denomination mark 1 PUR appear in the exergue area, with the mint director's mark visible at lower right. The rim is bordered by a continuous row of raised beads. |
