| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust of Marianne, the allegorical female personification of the French Republic, her hair elaborately dressed with laurel and floral sprigs tied with a ribbon, rendered in a flowing Art Nouveau-influenced style by engraver Maxime Rips. The legend REVOLUTION is inscribed along the left periphery and FRANÇAISE along the right, with the engraver's name RIPS and the inscription PROJET 1986 appearing in the lower field below the truncation.
